Maxbond BT Primer is a ready-to-use compound of oil bitumen and processing additives for use in substrate preparation to counter the effects of dust and minimize concrete surface porosity. Available in water or solvent based, it enhances bonding of polymer-bitumen membranes, in both hot torch and self-adhesive applications and helps improve the coverage rate of asphalt liquid coating. For use over concrete, masonry, metal and dry wall surfaces.

Limitations
o Do not add thinners.

o Do not apply solvent based primer over plastic foams or solvent sensitive surfaces
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oils, wax and other contaminants. Metal shall be wire brushed and
free of rust, paint and other coating.
The Installation
Stir Maxbond BT Primer well before use. Apply by brush, roller or spray at a rate of 0.15 – 0.3 liter per m² depending on porosity of the substrate. Use solvent-based primer in well ventilated area and keep away from open flame.
Let the primer penetrate into the substrate and protect from air borne dust. Apply a second coat if substrate is
extremely porous. Allow solvent to evaporate before application of waterproofing membrane.

Wear protective gloves and safety goggles when handling and avoid excessive inhalation. Upon contact with
skin, wash with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush with water and seek medical attention immediately.
Maxbond BT Primer Solvent-Based contains solvent and is flammable. Do not use near open flame or in
enclosed space without ventilator or breathing apparatus.
